LEAP is all about bringing our local food community together! Throughout the year, we host a variety of events, including community gatherings, market events, fundraisers, and more! Stay tuned and join us at one of our upcoming events!
Through LEAP's Harvest Bucks program, families on SNAP, WIC and Medicaid, kids, and seniors are able to increase their food budget at our markets. This doesn’t happen without community support, and this month, we are asking for your help in making this mission possible.
When you give to LEAP, you do more than support our program. You help a family put fresh, healthy food on the table. You’re supporting a local farmer. And you’re investing in a stronger, healthier Roanoke.
Through monetary donations, pledges, recurring monthly donations, and even rounding up when you check out at our Community Store, you too can contribute in cultivating a community where local food is accessible to all.
Join LEAP for Apples and Acorns, a foraging and garden event!We are partnering with Em Shawish (creator of “For the Love of Foraging”: A Seasonal Guide to Wild Food and Medicine of Southwest Virginia) to bring you an event where you can:
* Learn how to identify different trees and edible plants.
* Get hands on experience processing different types of nuts.
* Press apples into apple cider with an antique hand-turn cider press.
* Share a potluck with members of the community around a campfire.
Em will be selling their Zine, “For the Love of Foraging” for those interested. Please bring cash to the event if you wish to purchase one.

LEAP offers ServSafe® Food Protection Manager classes and exams, taught by a certified ServSafe® instructor and proctor, once per quarter. Sign up to expand your skills and increase employability.
