Market season is finally here!

LEAP Mobile Market 2018 season kicks off 5/15!

We can’t hide our excitement for the launch of the 2018 Mobile Market season! The LEAP Mobile Market brings fresh, local, healthy food to Roanoke neighborhoods that otherwise lack access to fresh produce. We’ve expanded our reach to include 10 stops this year – see the full schedule and map below!  All stops are open to the public and we accept cash, debit, and EBT. And of course, like all LEAP markets, the Mobile Market will accept and double SNAP-EBT (food stamps) and also double purchases made by Medicaid members. Come check out our sweet repurposed box truck, now with a fully-integrated pop-up farmers market display (thanks to JMU Industrial Design) and gorgeous artwork (courtesy of Kamila Love), meet our new Mobile Market Manager Davey (see bio below), and stock up on farm-fresh producein your neighborhood!

Welcome Davey Rogner to the LEAP family!

We’re so lucky and thankful to have found such a profoundly talented, spirited, and eager new Mobile Market Manager. Please join us in welcoming Davey Rogner, the newest addition to the LEAP team!

Davey is a passionate earth steward, ecological educator, musician, and permaculture practitioner. He enjoys hiking, spending time working on sustainable garden projects with friends, collecting crystals, and flowing with music. Presently, Davey is also employed with Roanoke County Recreation and Parks and provides ecology-related workshops and guided educational hikes at local parks. He lives in Roanoke City with his dog Webster, girlfriend, many plant allies, and five chickens. Together they are converting their quarter acre lot to produce as much food as possible and to “close the loop.” In the past, Davey co-founded and led Pick Up America – the nation’s first and only coast-to-coast contiguous roadside litter pick-up. From 2010-2012, the group cleared more than 100 tons of litter from 3,762 miles of roadway and trails while providing free education about zero-waste in local schools and churches. Davey has worked professionally as an environmental educator, a bread baker, a cook, a house painter, an ecological landscape designer, and as an invasive plant removal specialist. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Restoration and Management from the University of Maryland College Park and is a certified Permaculture Designer and Reiki Master.
